The number one question I get from my circle is, "How do you do it all?" I'm a mom, a wife, an executive, a coach, a student (ikr. finishing my last semester), a ministry leader, and pretty good friend, daughter and sister...it's a lot. Boundaries keep me together. Let me tell you how and why I encourage you to re-evaluate yours. XOXO, AE
Boundaries help you preserve your peace, find your focus, and be productive in your purpose.
Listen, sweet pea, much of the anxiety, dishevelment and imbalance that you feel is because you've allowed someone to overstep your boundaries. If you've defined them, get good with communicating them. It's okay to say no and be firm within that position. It helps you manage your time and confirms your position. Frankly, some people are just tew much and they will drain the life right out of you. I said the other day, "no more over-filled cups, only cups that over-flow". Being over-filled equates to letting people dump on you, committing to things that are outside your purpose, or being guilt-tripped by a co-worker or family member because you said no. Your peace is too important to sacrifice which is why defining and reinforcing your boundaries is crucial...remember, stress leads to mess. Whew, chile!
After you've reinforced those boundaries, you can eliminate all the unnecessary things and focus on the things that keep you in over-flow. It's cool say you are a Jack or Jackie of all trades until you realize you are a master of none. Boundaries help you clarify your lane and stay in it. All of the roles I play above are in alignment with my life's archetype, helper. I am service to that purpose and only deal in places and spaces that empower my purpose. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me but I can't deal with stuff that's not confluent with my purpose and legacy. I'm G-O-O-D on that, honey.
And since I know I'm not called to everyone or everything, I can excel within my bounds. Productivity is a by-product of efficiency. You are efficient when you aren't wasting energy. You see what's happening here, right? When you don't set boundaries, you waste energy and time which cause inefficiencies and lower your productivity. Yes, having the right tools and resources make you productive but so does being in the right headspace.
Check your boundaries. What are allowing to disrupt your peace? Guard against it. What are you committing to unnecessarily? Reclaim you focus. What's got you spinning your wheels? Evaluate you purpose.
Love this blog.....made me really sit down and think about all of the distractions that is keeping me from being my best me!!!!!
